In 20205, the House of Representatives Standing Committee on Education inquired into the development of Asia capability within our nation, including the teaching and learning of Asian languages, cultural literacy, and regional engagement within and beyond the formal education system. We know that many teaching associations prioritise their engagement with Asia, whether it be through support language teachers or building capacity in educators to successfully implement the Asia and Australia’s Engagement with Asia cross-curriculum priority.

APTA prepared a submission for this inquiry which was well received by the committee, and resulted in APTA vice-president Cheryl Brennan addressing the committee in December last year. You are can read a copy of our submission through the links you can find here.
