APTA News in Brief – October 2025

.The Australian Professional Teachers Association (APTA) continues to provide national leadership that supports and advances the teaching profession. Throughout 2025, APTA has focused on strengthening governance, advocacy, and member support under its 2024–2026 Strategic Plan.

Key highlights include:

  • Ongoing engagement with the Department of Education, ACARA, AITSL, and AERO to represent teacher associations in national policy discussions.
  • Participation in the National Teacher Workforce Roundtable and input into major reforms such as the Better and Fairer Schools Agreement and proposed Australian Teaching and Learning Commission.
  • Contributions to national inquiries and reviews, including Civics Education, Asia Capability, and the Productivity Commission’s workforce report.
  • Launch of the APTA Award for Outstanding Achievement in Collaboration, celebrating excellence in partnership and professional learning across associations.
  • A comprehensive review of APTA’s Constitution to ensure contemporary and effective governance.

The 2025 APTA Annual General Meeting will be held on Saturday, 15 November at 2pm via Zoom.
