The Australian Professional Teachers’ Association (APTA) and its member Councils invite you to an information session in your state or territory about the Promoting Professional Learning Project. This project is funded by the Australian Institute for Teaching and School Leadership (AITSL).
The project aims to develop elaborations and exemplars for the National Professional Teaching Standards for Teachers for the 5 focus statements in the Professional Engagement for the Proficient career stage.
The Australian Professional Teachers Association and the Department of Education, Science and Training Values Education partnership project
The Australian Professional Teachers Association is working with the Department of Education, Science and Training to support the incorporation of the National Values Framework into educational practice.
This will be achieved at the state and territory levels by the joint councils through their professional teaching association members. The associations will encourage involvement and insist in raising awareness of the Values Education Program and what the Australian Government is doing in values Education.
Information regarding specific opportunities can be found on the state and territory council websites.
The Values Education initiative in Australia mirrors international concerns. An excellent source of background material can be found on this UNESCO portal.
GlobalEd is sponsored by the Australian Agency for International Development (AusAID). It is an education resource for students and teachers. The site contains information about various Global Issues such as Health, and the Environment, as well as profiles of Countries assisted by Australian funding. There is student information and teaching resources.
The Department of Education and Training of Western Resource bank provides evaluations of a wide range of resources available for use in incorporating Values into classroom practice

The links between the values education elements as expressed in current state and territory curricula have been established.
In Western Australia, Ms Kerry Boyd of the Curriculum Council has prepared a document entitled "WA-Curriculum-Council-Values" in which the values embedded in the West Australian Curriculum Framework have been linked to the National Framework for Values Education in Australian Schools.
