International professional development for school leaders and leading teachers

  • Print

The APTA in partnership with the Australian Institute for Teaching and School Leadership (formerly Teaching Australia) conducts international professional development for school leaders and leading teachers. The Australian Institute for Teaching and School Leadership subsidises the participation of  teachers in this professional development. The Australian Professional Teachers' Association supports the participation of other teachers to attend the professional development activity.

The international professional development activities are undertaken for the benefit of state and territory joint councils, their member associations and teachers. The objectives of the professional development activities undertaken by APTA members are to build collaborative networks; to establish strategic partnerships and to strengthen research efforts through professional associations.

International professional development activities have focused on areas such as data driven professional learning; professional learning models; professional learning models for teachers of science and mathematics; professional teaching standards; leadership; the use of technology in education and professional teaching associations.
