These workshops were supported by Teaching Australia and were conducted across each state and territory by the APTA's members. Professional Teaching Association volunteers learned to use Web 2.0 tools to collaborate on association projects such as collaborating on professional publications, research and professional development activities. Teachers learned to use Web 2.0 tools in their classrooms and as a means of enhancing their own professional learning.

The purpose of the Web 2.0 tools professional development was to provide better and additional support to a ssociation members and enhance the effectiveness and efficiency in the delivery and sharing of information to all stakeholders. The preferred structure for the delivery of the professional development was through a workshop.

The workshops were designed in a hands-on format with expert facilitators leading the workshops. The workshops delivered a range of opportunities to engage with leaders in the use of Web 2.0 tools, industry software developers as well as hands on applications. Participants were led through a range of tools that had particular applications for the management of associations including Google Groups, Google sites, RSS feeds, blogging and wikis.
